Outdoor Learning

Outdoor learning is embedded in our curriculum. We want our pupils to enjoy and appreciate the many outdoor opportunities that are available. An important part of this is our outdoor maths which is pupil led.

Older classes take responsibility for planning and delivering lessons for younger classes utilising the outdoors.

Today P7 organised activities for our nursery and P1 children. P4 did the same for our P1/2 class. The older classes planned the lessons, created success criteria and learning intentions, organised and made resources as well as delivering the sessions.

All the classes enjoyed rich learning experiences, were engaged and enthusiastic and appreciated the freedom of learning outdoors. It is a very effective way of building confidence with numbers as well as developing leadership skills.
